The ThinkPad is a brand of business laptops and tablet PCs manufactured by Lenovo. The model number of your ThinkPad is important, as Lenovo requires it whenever you register your computer, contact Lenovo for technical assistance, inquire about your product warranty or order replacement parts. Every ThinkPad has a product label affixed to it that features the unit's model and serial numbers.
Lift up your Lenovo ThinkPad in front of you carefully so that you can see underneath it.
Look for the product label on the bottom of the unit. The label should have the word "TYPE" on it followed by four characters, a hyphen and three characters and then "S/N" followed by two characters, a hyphen and five characters.
Write down the characters that follow "TYPE" and/or precede "S/N"-- this is your ThinkPad's model number. The characters that follow "S/N" are the serial number.
Tips & Warnings
- You can also find your model number by using your ThinkPad to go to the Lenovo website (see resources) and clicking the "Display My Model Number" button. A popup window displaying your model number will appear. You must be using Internet Explorer.
