How to Make a Base Oil Diffuser
A base oil diffuser pulls fragrance and essential oils from a base up through bamboo reeds, which enables the scented oil to be released into the room. You can purchase a base oil diffuser from a home decorating store or specialty shop, but you may be limited in your choice of fragrances. One solution is to make your own base oil diffuser using your favorite fragrance or essential oils.
Things You'll Need
- Small glass vase
- 1/2-cup fragrance
- 1 teaspoon essential oil
- 10 to 15 thin bamboo reeds
- Towel
Instructions
-
-
1
Fill the bottom of a small vase halfway full of fragrance oil, any scent you prefer.
-
2
Add 1 teaspoon of essential oil into the fragrance oil, any scent you prefer. Mix the oils together thoroughly using a thin bamboo reed.
-
-
3
Insert 10 to 15 thin bamboo reeds into the vase, and allow them to sit for 5 minutes. This will allow the oils to soak into the bottom portion of the reeds.
-
4
Place a towel next to the vase, then lift the reeds out of the vase. The towel will prevent fragrance and essential oils from getting on anything outside the vase.
-
5
Turn the reeds over, inserting the unsaturated ends into the vase. This will scent the room with the oil, while soaking up the oil inside the vase.
