How to Start a Free Forum
Forums, also called message boards, allow multiple users to discuss topics online and are important in creating and maintaining an online community. You can start a forum for free by using one of several websites that allow you to create, host and monitor your forum without paying for hosting or a domain. These forum creation websites make it simple for anyone to start an online discussion community on nearly any topic.

Open your browser, and visit the LeFora page (see Resources).

Click the yellow "Start a forum" button on the left side of the page.

Choose a web address, and enter it into the "Pick a web address" field. This address cannot contain spaces.

Choose a username, and enter it into the "Pick a username" field. Input your email address, and create a password. Click "Start a forum."

Select the "Modern theme" or "Classic theme" for your forum. Each theme is slightly different. Choose a theme that best matches the topic of your forum.

Add details (including a description, topic and keywords) about your forum, if you wish. Note that this is optional; click "Skip this" in the top right corner to skip details and create your forum. Otherwise, click "Next."

Click "No Thanks, I'm happy with LeFora Standard" to continue with the free version.

Click "Go To Your Forum" to view your newly created free forum.
Nabble Free Forums

Open your browser, and visit the Nabble page (see Resources).

Click the "Start a Free Forum" link on the left side of the page.

Choose a username, and enter it into the "User Name" field. Input your email address, and create a password. Place a check-mark next to the "Terms of Use" agreement.

Choose a forum name, and enter it into the "Forum Name" field. Add an optional description into the appropriate text field.

Enter the special code to verify that you are human, and click "Create Forum" to create and view your forum.

Check your email inbox for an email from Napple. Click on the link in the email to activate your account.
ProBoards Free Forum Host

Open your browser, and visit the ProBoards page (see Resources).

Click the orange "Create your forum for free" button on the left side of the page.

Choose a forum URL, and enter it into the "Desired Forum URL" field. Note that this URL may not contain spaces.

Enter your name and email address into the appropriate fields.

Choose a password, and enter it into the "Password" field.

Click the drop-down menus, and select your birthday (for age verification) and the forum category (what your forum is about).

Enter the special Captcha characters, and place a check-mark next to the "ProBoards Terms of Service." Click "Sign Up" to create your forum.

Click on your forum link on the next page to visit your forum. Look for an email from ProBoards in your inbox. Click on the link in the email to activate your account.
