How to Control Excess Armpit Sweat

How to Control Excess Armpit Sweat thumbnail
Sweating is our body's natural reaction to overheating, but excessive perspiration might be a sign of a common condition.

Our bodies have about 3 million sweat glands that are triggered as our body temperature rises or when we are anxious and nervous. Sweating is a natural bodily function, but excess sweating, referred to as hyperhidrosis, is a problem affecting nearly 3 percent of the global population. Communication problems among the hypothalamus, sweat glands and sweat nerves are thought to be the main contributing factor to hyperhidrosis. Natural remedies, doctor-prescribed anti-cholinergic drugs and surgery are all methods of how to control the condition.

    • 8

Undergo surgery that will remove sweat glands in the armpit.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure to seek medical attention if you feel you sweat excessively. Your doctor will be able to explain the treatments and remedies available to you and determine a course of action more suitable to your specific needs.

  • Complications surrounding hyperhidrosis are generally uncommon, however, skin beneath the armpit may become sore, irritated or infected. It is also possible to develop eczema.
