How to Address a Clasp Envelope
Clasp envelopes come in different sizes and offer two forms of security. The flap has a gummy adhesive that adheres to the envelope once you wet it, and the metal clasp closes over the flap to hold it in place in case the adhesive fails. Yet, the way to seal a clasp envelope is not your only concern. You also need to know how to address it according to the United States Postal Service guidelines.
Instructions

1
Turn the clasp envelope so that the side opposite the clasp is facing you.
-
2
Hold it in a horizontal position. The longer sides of the clasp envelope should be at the bottom and top, while the shorter sides will be on the left and right. According to USPS regulations, clasp envelopes are non-machinable so it does not matter if the clasp is on the right or the left of the back side of the envelope. (Reference 2)
