It's easy to enter the © symbol in a document.

Occasionally, when drafting a letter, laying out a web page or creating another type of document, you may need to insert the copyright symbol to reference a particular person or company's ownership of a brand, slogan or graphic. The "©" symbol is universally recognized as the character used to represent a copyrighted term or object. In Microsoft Windows, inserting a copyright character requires only a few keystrokes.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Microsoft Word or another word processor you use to create documents. Open the file in which you want to insert the copyright character or create a new file.

    • 2

Edit or create the document up to the point where you want to insert the copyright character. Ensure the cursor is in the correct position, then hold and press the "Alt" as you type "0-1-6-9" on the number pad. After you release the "Alt," the © displays at the cursor position.

    • 3

Click "File/Save" on the menu bar to save the file after creating or editing the document.
