The Palm z22's back cover can be removed with care and patience.

The Palm Z22 is a handheld PDA introduced by Palm, Inc. in 2005 and designed for first-time PDA users. The Palm Z22 is equipped with a 200 MHz processor that runs on the Palm OS Garnet operating system. Power is supplied to the Palm Z22 by a standard rechargeable lithium-ion battery that features up to eight hours of battery life depending on the type of functions being performed on the PDA. To access the the PDA's battery and other internal components, the back of the Palm Z22 must be removed.

Instructions

      Remove the stylus from its slot on the Palm Z22.

      Remove the infrared port cover. Remove the infrared communications port cover from the Palm Z22 by gently sliding an Exacto knife blade or thin opening tool into the seam between the back cover and front bezel located at the top of the Palm Z22. Gently pry loose the infrared port cover from the PDA and remove the cover.

      Remove the top screws. Hold the Palm Z22 with the back facing you and looking at the top of the PDA where the infrared cover was located. Two star-head screws will be visible. Remove both screws with a star-tipped screwdriver.

      Open the PDA case. Slide a thin opening tool or flat-tipped screwdriver into the seam between the front panel and back cover. Gently pry apart the front panel and back cover on both sides and the top of the PDA, being careful not to damage the plastic tabs located on the front cover.

      Separate the back cover. Hold the Palm Z22 in one hand and release the back cover from the tabs that hold it in place by gently pulling the back cover away from the PDA. The system board and battery will remain attached to the front panel of the Palm Z22. The piezo will remain in its slot on the back panel and is attached to the system board by two wires.

      Remove the back cover. Lift the piezo from its slot located on the back cover by gently prying it with a think opening tool or flat-tipped screwdriver. The back cover is now completely removed from the Palm Z22.
