      Put on a face mask to avoid inhaling mold spores. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screws from the heating vent cover and place it aside. Carefully place the screws together in a safe place.

      Remove dust and other debris from inside the heating vent using a brush. Put 3 drops of dishwashing liquid and 4 tsp. of bleach into a 1 gallon of water.

      Dip a rag into the bleach water, then remove it and squeeze out the excess water. Thoroughly wipe the surface area where the mold is located. Rinse the rag in the bleach water, then wipe the area a second time. Use clean, warm water to rinse the rag, then give a final wipe to remove any remaining traces of mold.

      Soak the vent covers in a container with 2 drops of bleach and 1 gallon of warm water. Allow the grime and mold to soak away for 10 to 20 minutes. Rinse the vent covers with warm water and leave to air dry. Replace the vent covers and insert each screw securely.
