Keep your tranmission fulid levels adequate to ensure the transmission runs smoothly.

The Beretta is a coupe vehicle designed and manufactured by General Motors under the Chevrolet name brand. The 1990 Beretta came with a five-speed manual transmission. It's important to check your Beretta's manual transmission fluid levels anytime the regular engine oil is checked. Adding manual transmission fluid should be done with caution, as adding too much will cause severe damage to the transmission.

Instructions

    • 1

Park the Beretta on a level surface. Allow the vehicle to cool enough so you can rest your hand on the transmission case comfortably.

    • 2

Open the hood of the Beretta and locate the transmission-fluid dipstick and reservoir. The dipstick is found on the driver's side near the back of the transmission case. Pull the dipstick straight out. Wipe the dipstick clean with a rag.

    • 3

Reinsert the dipstick. Wait three seconds and remove it once more. Read the measurement of fluid on the dipstick. If the measurement is between the "add" and "full" markings, there is no need to add fluid. If the measurement is below the "add" marking, proceed in adding the fluid.

    • 4

With the dipstick removed, place a long-neck funnel into the dipstick hole. Slowly add a half pint of transmission fluid to the funnel. Recheck the levels by removing the funnel and reinserting the dipstick. Continue this process until the level reaches the "full" marking. Once the levels are adequate, close the hood of the Beretta.
