How to Get a Beekeeping Degree in Illinois
Beekeeping is an interesting career choice that can be interesting and rewarding. In order to become an experienced beekeeper in Illinois, you must attend classes that teach you the basics of beekeeping. Beekeeping can also be a very dangerous career, so these classes are equally important to ensure your safety when you are around bees.

Enroll in a beekeeping course given by the Central Illinois Beekeepers Association. The beekeeper course consists of six sessions, and after the course is completed a certificate will be awarded. During the course you will learn about the history of beekeeping, hive basics, and management during each season.

While you are in school, it may be best to join a local beekeepers association to learn more about beekeeping from other experienced beekeepers in your area.

Complete and graduate from the beekeeping course. Once you have graduated, you can start a bee colony and register the colony with the Illinois Department of Agriculture. It is required by the state of Illinois to register bee colonies within 10 days of starting them. After graduating from the beekeepers course, you should have the knowledge on how to start and maintain a bee colony.

Join the Illinois State Beekeepers Association (ISBA). The ISBA is the official beekeepers association for the state of Illinois. Membership provides several benefits that will assist you during the beekeeping process.
