How to Install the "Diablo 2" Expansion Without a CD When I Have a CD Key

In the computer game "Diablo II," you play as an adventurer tasked with venturing down into the domain of Diablo and destroying him and his brothers. The expansion to the game, "Lord of Destruction," allows you to progress into the final phase of the game and combat Diablo's brother Baal. Since this is such an old game, finding a working CD for it is difficult, but installing the game without the CD has been made easy through Blizzard Entertainment's Battle.net system.

Things You'll Need

• Original "Diablo II" game installed
• "Diablo II: Lord of Destruction" CD key

Instructions

1. Go to Battle.net. Click on "Log In" to sign in to Battle.net if you already have an account; otherwise, click on "Create an Account" in the top-right corner of the page. Follow the steps to create a Battle.net account. Check the e-mail for the address you specified for the Battle.net account and verify it to activate the account and log in.

2. Click on the "Account" button to view the games you have associated with your account.

3. Click on the green button to the right of the screen that says "Add a Game." This will open up a new window, and on the left will be a space to enter a CD key for any Blizzard game. Enter the CD key for the original version of "Diablo II" before proceeding.

4. Click "Add a Game" a second time and enter the CD key for the "Diablo II" expansion. Click on the "Activate Game" button.

5. Click on the "Account" button again and find "Diablo II: Lord of Destruction" under "Classic Games." Click on it and it will open up a new window.

6. Click on the "Download Game Client" icon for whichever type of computer you use and it will start the download.

7. Open the downloaded file and install the game normally.

Tips & Warnings

• You will not be able to install the "Diablo II" expansion unless you've already installed the original "Diablo II" on your computer.
