The story of Alice in Wonderland is one of the most charming and enchanting children's tales of all time. The character of Alice herself is among the most recognizable in English literature. Written in 1865 and brought to life by Disney in 1951, we all now recognize the little girl in the blue dress and long blonde hair. With a few simple things from the thrift store and some lacy accessories you will soon be dressed for your trip to Wonderland.

Things You'll Need

  • White leggings
  • 2 yards of white ruffle trim
  • Needle and thread
  • Scissors
  • White skirt
  • 2 pieces of white ribbons about a foot long
  • Blue dress, short or puffed sleeves and full skirt
  • White knee socks
  • Pair of Mary Janes
  • Black head band

Instructions

  1. Pantaloons

    • 1

      Cut the leggings off just below the knee.

    • 2

      Cut two pieces of ruffled trim 1/2 inch longer than the circumference of the leg opening.

      Sew each piece of trim around the edge of each leg opening.

    Pinafore

    • 4

      Cut the white skirt all the way up the back. Hem the cut edges.

      Positioning the skirt just under the armpits, pin two pieces of ruffled trim to the front of skirt at each shoulders. Pull them over the shoulders and pin in the back.

      Pin each of the two ribbons to the back waistband on either side of the cut as apron strings. Sew ribbons and trim into place.

      Trim the hemline about an inch shorter than the dress.

    Get Dressed

      Put on the blue dress, pinafore and pantaloons.

      Put on stockings and pull all the way up over the knees. Pull the bottom edge of the pantaloons of top of the socks. Put on the Mary Janes.

      Pull hair back with the head band.
