Every mobile device has a unique identifier known as an Electronic Serial Number (ESN) or a Mobile Equipment Identifier (MEID). The MEID was introduced because the industry exhausted the supply of available ESNs. There are three locations on a handset where you might find an MEID number. However, if you have an iPhone, a Blackberry, or other type of non-handset phone, locating the MEID number is different for every phone.
Handset Cell Phones
Check the back of the phone. There may be a label toward the top that includes the MEID number.
Open the phone cover and look beneath the battery for the label.
Remove the battery and look behind it. The MEID label is often located there.
Non-Handset Cell Phones
Power the phone on.
Click "Options" or "Settings." Your phone may have a different menu to access system information.
Click "System Settings" and look for "Version" or "Device." Your phone may have another choice, such as "Status."
