How to Use an iPod With an Asus

Save

Asus produces computer components like motherboards and video cards. In addition, they produce their own line of computers. Asus installs the Microsoft Windows operating system on all of their computers. Windows is compatible with Apple's iTunes software. The iTunes software allows you to connect and sync Apple iPods, which allows you to manage the photos, videos and music on your iPod.

Things You'll Need

  • iPod USB cable or iPod dock
  • iTunes software
  • Download the free iTunes for Windows software from Apple's website. This link is available in the Resources section of this article. Note that the website attempts to automatically detect what operating system you are using. If it does not, choose the "iTunes" download that matches the Windows OS on your Asus.

  • Double-click on the downloaded iTunes file on your Windows desktop or in your Windows download folder. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation and restart the computer if prompted.

  • Connect the wide end of the iPod USB cable to the USB port on the bottom of the iPod. If you are using an iPod Shuffle or using an iPod dock, place the iPod in the dock. Connect the other end of the USB cable or dock cable to an available USB port on the Asus computer.

  • Wait a few seconds for iTunes to automatically launch. If it does not, double-click on the iTunes icon on the Asus Windows desktop.

  • Add songs to iTunes by selecting "File" and "Add files" from the iTunes menu. Select each file or folder you want to put into iTunes. ITunes will automatically convert most media files to the MP3 or MP4 format.

  • Click on "Library" followed by the type of iTunes media file you want to add to the iPod, such as "Music," "Podcasts" or "Movies," in the left column of iTunes. The library appears in the right column. Click and drag each file you want to add to the iPod to the "iPod" icon under "Devices." Release the click to add the file.

  • Click on the "iPod" icon under"Devices" and click the "Sync" button in the main iPod menu that appears. You can choose to sync all files or only certain files. Once selected, iTunes will automatically sync the selected files every time the iPod is connected to the Asus.

  • Click on the "Eject" icon next to the iPod icon in iTunes before disconnecting the iPod USB cable.
