Sulfur is a naturally occurring mineral found in every living organism. Methyl Sulfonyl Methane or MSM, is an organic form of sulfur available over-the-counter. In its purest form, it is white crystals. Sulfur is required for the human body to produce keratin, which is the protein hair is made of. Sulfur benefits your hair and scalp, and is used in haircare products to promote strong, shiny hair and hair growth.
Things You'll Need
- 4 oz. Castile soap
- 1/2 oz. lavender
- 1/2 oz. nettles
- 1/2 oz. rosemary
- 1/2 oz. sage
- Distilled water
- Cooking source
- Pure MSM powder
- Measuring cup
- Empty 8 oz. bottle
- Water based conditioner
- Extra virgin coconut oil
- Extra virgin olive oil
Sulfur in shampoo is effective at ridding flaky dandruff from your scalp. Use this homemade shampoo with sulfur weekly, for healthier hair with an improved, softer texture. Mix all the herbs in a bowl, and then add 3 heaping tbsp. to 2 cups of boiling distilled water. Take the mixture off of the heat and allow it to steep for 30 minutes. Add 2000 mg. of MSM to the herb mixture and allow it to dissolve for 30 minutes. After the MSM is dissolved, strain the mixture into a measuring cup. Pour 2 ½ oz. of the herbal mixture into an empty bottle, then add 4 oz. of castile soap. Cap the bottle and shake it to mix thoroughly.
MSM conditioner after shampooing helps repair damaged hair and makes it stronger and shinier. Mix 2 tbsp. of distilled water with 1 tbsp. of MSM in the microwave for 15 seconds and then mix well until all of the MSM powder has dissolved. Add the MSM mixture to a water-based conditioner and shake well. Use this MSM conditioner after each shampoo
Use sulfur on your scalp as a growth aid in an oil mixture. It is also a defense against dandruff and promotes a healthy scalp. Put 1 tsp. of MSM powder, 8 tbsp. of extra virgin coconut oil and 6 tbsp. of extra virgin olive oil into an empty bottle and shake well. Let the oil mixture marinate for 48 hours. Before use, shake well and apply the oil to your scalp.
