How to Add a Twitter Follow Link

Save

As you use the Twitter service to communicate brief messages, known as "Tweets," consider adding a Twitter follow feature to a Web page. This feature is linked to the mechanism that allows people to stay up to date with your postings, and typically displays as a button that reads "Follow Me." When a visitor clicks this link, he is given the option to be your "follower," meaning he receives your updates each time you submit your notes. Use the tools included in your Twitter account to acquire a follow link.

  • Log in to your Twitter account and click the "Goodies" link at the bottom of the page (see Resources).

  • Click the "Buttons" link on the right and then view the "Twitter "follow me" offerings that appear. You have the option to choose buttons ranging in styles, from designs that display the Twitter bird with the words "Follow Me" to the single "t" icon. Click on a button to select it.

  • Copy the code that displays and then access the Web page where you want to add your Twitter link. Paste in your code and save your work to finish adding the Twitter follow feature to your page.

Tips & Warnings

  • Check out the Twitter Fan Wiki "Apps" page for more Twitter follow link options as well as other applications (apps) that support your Twitter experience (see Resources).
