How to Get Internet Explorer to Start in Private Browsing

Internet Explorer 8 includes a private browsing mode named InPrivate Browsing. When Internet Explorer is in private browsing mode, it doesn't save the normal browsing data including history, cookies and cache. Private browsing mode ensures that your web browsing leaves no tracks. Private browsing mode is normally activated from within the browser on a per-session basis, but you can edit the Internet Explore shortcut and force it to always open in private browsing mode.

Instructions

1. Right-click an "Internet Explorer" shortcut on the desktop, in the "Start" menu or on the taskbar, then click "Properties." If you're using Windows 7, press and hold the "Shift" key on your keyboard before right-clicking the "Internet Explorer" shortcut on the taskbar.

2. Click the "Target" box in the shortcut properties window.

3. Press the "End" key on the keyboard.

4. Press "Space" and type "-private" at the end of the target box.

5. Click "OK."
