How to Replace Batteries in Buick Enclaves

by Samuel Hamilton

Although replacing your car's battery is not an overly complicated process to begin with, Buick decided to simplify the process even further by moving the battery from the engine compartment and placing it in a specialized compartment, accessible through the interior of the car. Aside from the battery's unique location, replacing the battery in a Buick Enclave is the same basic processes as replacing the battery in any other car.

Step 1

Remove the rugs from the second row of your Enclave. Doing so will reveal the latched battery compartment on the passenger side of your vehicle.

Step 2

Unlatch the battery compartment lid.

Step 3

Use a ratchet or combination wrench to unhook the clamp holding the battery in place.

Step 4

Detach the negative (black) battery cable from the battery, using a combination wrench to loosen the nut. Twist the cable connector and pull it off of the battery.

Step 5

Detach the positive (red) battery cable from the battery using the same method that you used on the negative cable.

Step 6

Pull the battery from its holding case in your Enclave.

Step 7

Install your replacement battery and reattach the positive and then the negative battery cables. Replace the battery compartment lid and rug.
