How to Cut Down a Basketball Net

What do national, state and sometimes league champions have in common? They all get to cut down the net after the big game.

Instructions

1. Keep that smile plastered on your face. If ever there was a photo op, this is it.

2. Take hold of the tape cutters, normally provided by the team trainer.

3. Climb up the ladder waving to friends and family. Keep smiling.

4. Remember that you're in charge. One mistake and you wipe out snipping opportunities for teammates and coaches because there's only so much net to go around.

5. Snip a single cord of the net.

6. Hold up your piece of the net triumphantly.

7. Dismount from the ladder. (Make your mom doubly proud by keeping the pointed end of the tape cutter pointed down.)

8. Pass the tape cutter to your champion teammate.

9. Continue the celebration on the ground.

Tips & Warnings

• Cut only one piece of the net.

• Work hard all season for the opportunity to cut down the net.

• Don't forget about team managers and assistants. They worked just as hard for the championship as you did.
