How to Align Equations in MathType

Enter, edit and align equations using MathType and your word processor.

MathType is a software tool for entering and editing mathematical equations into different types of documents. You can use MathType to add any type of mathematical equation, formula or group of equations you wish, including calculus, algebraic sets and complex number theories at any point as you are writing. There are many uses for MathType, and the output equations and formulas can be aligned easily and directly imported into almost any application. It can be used "as is" without worry of special fonts or pre-printing software.

Instructions

1. Launch your copy of MathType and begin entering your equations as they appear in your source.

2. Type your formulas using the designated math symbols on MathType's menu bar, such as the "Algebra," "Derivatives," "Statistics," "Matrices," "Sets" and "Trigonometry" tabs. After each set of equations, hit the "Enter" key to break to a new line.

3. Add as many more equations in the same way as you did in the above step.

4. Click the "Format" tab on MathType's main menu and choose the alignment you want for your equations display. You can vertically align the equations left, center, right, on the decimal point, or on the equals (=) sign.
