How to Get Heracross in Pokemon Pearl

The key to catching Heracross is honey.

Heracross, the Single Horn Pokémon, looks like a large, blue beetle standing on two legs. A T-shaped horn protrudes from the center of its head. Because Heracross is a dual-type Pokémon, with both bug and fighting attributes, it is excellent in battle against grass and psychic Pokémon. Its fighting attribute, however, makes it exceptionally vulnerable to flying-type Pokémon, and its bug attribute makes it weak against fire Pokémon. Heracross resides in honey trees in "Pokémon Pearl," so you will not find it in tall grass like other wild Pokémon, but it is available morning, noon and night.

Instructions

1. Turn on your DS system, and resume your saved Pearl game.

2. Walk, bicycle or fly to Floraroma Town, north of Jubilife City.

3. Walk to the northwest corner of the town, through a flower meadow, and proceed through an opening between the trees at the top of the screen.

4. Press the "A" button to speak to the farmer on the other side of the trees.

5. Press "A" to accept the farmer's offer to sell you honey for $100.

6. Walk around the farmer's meadow, through Floraroma Town or along Route 205, to locate special honey trees. They look more golden than green, so they stand out from normal trees.

7. Stand next to a honey tree, and press the "A" button to slather honey on the tree. This will attract Heracross to that tree.

8. Continue your game normally, talking to people and battling Pokémon or Team Galactic as the game events unfold, then return to the honey trees you slathered after several hours have passed. If the tree is wiggling, a Pokémon is present.

9. Walk up to the tree, and press the "A" button to battle the Pokémon. You won't know who it is until the battle begins.

10. Reduce Heracross' hit points (HP) with bug or fighting moves that will do a little damage, but not so much damage that you knock the Pokémon out. If you knock Heracross out, you can't catch it.

11. Throw a Pokeball when Heracross' HP level goes into the red zone. You may need to throw several balls before it stays in one.

Tips & Warnings

• If a Galactic Grunt is blocking the path to the farmer, go east from Floraroma Town along Route 205 and rescue a little girl's father from the Valley Windworks building. When that task is complete, the grunt blocking the path will be gone. Proceed through the trees to the farmer. You will find the Galactic Grunt threatening the farmer. Battle the grunt to save the farmer and buy the honey.

• Honey loses its power to attract Pokémon after 24 hours, so if you don't find a Pokémon within a day, reapply the honey and check back later.

• If you attempt to catch Heracross and fail, don't worry. Slather more honey on the trees and wait. You will have another chance.
