How to Disassemble the Door on a 1973 Triumph TR6
The Triumph TR6 is a classic British convertible sports car that was made from 1969 to 1976. The TR6 was particularly popular in the U.S., where it sold in large numbers. The TR6 is still an incredibly popular car thanks to the powerful straight-six engine and classic styling. There is also a huge aftermarket for the car, so parts are plentiful and relatively cheap. TR6s are enjoyable cars to restore and are easy to work on. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Remove the window crank. Press the door panel back so you can see the small hole in the window lever shaft that the crank slides onto. Insert a long, thin screwdriver into the hole and press out the pin inside the shaft. The pin will come out of the other side of the hole. Do not lose it. Remove the door handle in the same manner.
-
2
Remove the two caps that cover any door pocket screws. Remove the two screws underneath the caps. Some TR door pockets are part of the door panel and do not have any screws.

3
Remove the door panel by pulling it off of the door. Starting at the front, lower corner of the door, slide a flat tool between the door panel and the door, then gently pry the panel away from the door until you feel the clip release. Continue pulling the perimeter of the door panel until it is completely removed from the door.

4
Remove the door top trim pad by prying it gently off. It is held on with a series of clips. In some models, the pad is glued on. Simply pull it off. You'll need to glue it back on later.
-
5
Remove the door lock by first putting the window crank back on loosely, then raising the window. Remove the spring clip and washer that fasten the link arm to the inside of the door. Remove the three screws that hold the lock to the door with a screwdriver, then withdraw the lock.
-
6
Remove the key lock by inserting a long, flat bladed screwdriver and pressing down on the tabs that hold the lock cylinder to the inside of the door. Withdraw the lock from the outside of the door. Disconnect the door check strap from the door by drilling out the rivet that holds it in place.
-
7
Place the window halfway open. Remove the three bolts that hold the window regulator bracket in place. Remove the four bolts that hold the door window mechanism in place. Slide the regulator so the studs that hold the glass in place are released.
-
8
Take the door off the car by removing the bolts on the upper and lower hinges with a socket and ratchet.
