How to Disable a QuickTime Control Host
When using programs, such as the Windows Live Photo Gallery, a QuickTime control is used when you preview or play back content that is in the Quicktime format. If you do not want to a use a QuickTime control, support for this feature will need to be disabled. To do this you will need to create and then run a batch file on your system.

Go to the Microsoft Support website and enter article ID "944563" in the Search Support box. Pull up the article "How to disable and restore QuickTime support."

Scroll down the page and copy the text that is under "Batch file to disbale QT support."

On your desktop, click the "Start" menu and type "notepad" into the search box. Click the option for "Notepad" to open the program.

Click the "Edit" drop down and select the option for "Paste."

Click the "File" drop down and select the option for "Save As..." Select "Desktop" for the location to save the file. Type "DisableWLPQT.cmd" in the File Name text box and click the "Save" button.

Click the "File" drop down and select "Exit" to close Notepad.

Double-click the "DisableWLPQT.cmd" file to run the process. A DOS window will then appear on the screen.

Restart the computer after the process has finished.

Tips & Warnings
Right-click the "DisableWLPQT.cmd" file and select "Run as Administrator" if you need to disable QuickTime support on a network.
