Confirm that the tanning bed is unplugged and completely cooled. If the tanning bed were to turn on while replacing the bulbs, you could suffer from serious burns. Remove the large plastic cover that shields the user from the bulbs. You may need to use a screwdriver to take off the frame that holds the plastic shield. Start with the upper bulbs first, so that you can sit on the lower shelf and change the bulbs.

Replace one bulb at a time, working from right to left. Hold the the bulb firmly, with one hand near each end of the bulb. Turn the bulb a quarter-turn, 90 degrees, and you will feel the connector pins click. The bulb should come out of the tanning bed easily. Insert a new bulb into the socket. Align the pins at the end of the bulb so that they slide easily into the socket at both ends. Turn the bulb a quarter-turn to lock it in place. For the Solar Storm tanning bed, you will need 12 replacement bulbs for the lower bed, and six regular bulbs (three on each side) with six face-tanning bulbs (in the center) for the canopy.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the bulb does not slide out from each end easily, try rotating it the other direction.

  • Make sure that you record the date that you changed the bulbs. This will help determine your usage rates and will help you decide when to order more.
