How to Make Fruit Potpourri
The dry method for making fruit potpourri combines ingredients that cure over time. Heating sliced fruit slowly at a low setting will produce a fragrance enhanced by pine cones and spices. Things You'll Need
- Wooden spoon
- Apples, oranges, limes, lemons, kiwi, sliced
- Pinecones, dried
- Wood shavings
- Cinnamon sticks
- Cloves
- Roasting pan
- Containers or resealable plastic bags

Preparing Fruit

Slice the fruit 1/8- to 1/2-inch thick.

Place the sliced fruit in the roasting pan. Use a wooden spoon to distribute the fruit evenly.

Set the oven to a low setting. Heat the mixture for a few hours.

Remove the roasting pan from the oven.

Place the dried fruit in a bowl to cool.

Add the fillers and spices: pine cones, pine cuttings, cloves and cinnamon sticks. Stir this mixture.

Store the fruit potpourri in an airtight jar, container or resealable bag.
Preparing Dried Pinecones

Spread pinecones in a roasting pan. Use the wooden spoon to distribute pinecones evenly.

Dry the pinecones to kill any insects. Set the oven to 200 degrees. Heat the pinecones for approximately 30 minutes.

Remove the roasting pan from the oven. Dry the heated pinecones for two days.

Add the dried pinecones to the fruit potpourri.

Tips & Warnings
Add essential oils or fragrances oils to extend the scent.
Try adding already dried fruit, such as cranberries, to the container.
A heated roasting pan can burn both the fruit and your skin.
