How to Stitch a Logo on a Grill Cover

How to Stitch a Logo on a Grill Cover thumbnail
With a little sewing skill you can stitch your own logo on a grill cover.

There's nothing worse for the avid griller than a weather-damaged, rusted cooking surface. That's why any griller worth his salt uses a cover to protect the grill from the ravages of the outdoors. Grill covers can be a bit drab, but decorative techniques such as stitching designs onto grill covers can liven them up and give them a touch of personal style.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a logo to stitch on the grill cover. Simple designs such as lettering or outlines of shapes are easier to stitch.

    • 2

Draw the logo design on a piece of fabric paper with a pencil.

    • 3

Pin the fabric paper with the logo design to your grill cover.

    • 4

Trace the design onto the grill cover by pricking through the fabric paper with a pin. Use about 20 pricks of the pin per inch. This will transfer the image onto the grill cover with small holes that can be seen when the grill cover is held up to light.

    • 5

Remove the pins and fabric paper from the grill cover.

    • 6

Secure the chosen area of the grill cover in an embroidery hoop. Center the outer hoop over the area you wish to stitch and press the inner hoop into the outer hoop from the other side of the fabric. Secure the embroidery hoop in place by tightening the adjustable screw on the outer hoop against the inner hoop.

Stitch the design, using the pin pricks as a guide, with embroidery thread using an embroidery needle. Experiment with different types of stitches using a piece of scrap fabric to determine which type of stitches are best for your logo. Choose from a number of beginning stitches: chain, daisy, stem or whip stitches. When you've finished all the stitching in the area secured by the hoop, loosen the hoop and secure the next area you wish to stitch.

Knot each embroidery thread when finished with a line of stitching and trim all loose threads with embroidery scissors.
