Instructions

    • 1

Cleanse your skin with a gentle, noncomedogenic face wash. Noncomedogenic products, which are water based, are less likely to clog your pores. Wash your face every night to remove any dirt, oil and make-up, all of which can clog your pores. Avoid over-washing your face, as this can leave your face dry and cause your skin to produce unnecessary oil. Cleanse your face twice a day. Wash with lukewarm water to open up your pores. Rinse thoroughly, making sure not to leave any soap residue behind.

    • 2

Tone your skin using an alcohol-free toner with soothing ingredients like witch hazel. Toner will help remove impurities in your pores, including any residual soap from washing your face. To use, apply the toner to a large cotton-ball and wipe gently across your face, avoiding your eyes.

    • 3

Apply a noncomedogenic moisturizer after toning. Using a light moisturizer is ideal for oily skin, as this keeps your skin hydrated without adding heaviness or greasiness. Look for noncomedogenic moisturizers that also include SPF to keep you protected from the sun.

    • 4

Exfoliate with a natural facial scrub once a week to remove dead skin cells that can clog your pores. Avoid facial scrubs with harsh chemicals, which can irritate your skin. Instead, try a natural, fruit-based scrub to gently buff away dead skin cells. Facial scrubs will help your skin appear smoother and softer.

    • 5

Apply make-up sparingly. Rather than use heavy liquid foundation, try oil-free pressed powder. Heavy foundation can settle into your pores, leaving them clogged. Always wash your make-up off with a gentle cleanser before sleeping.

    • 6

Avoid touching your face too often, especially after exercising or eating. This can introduce excess dirt and bacteria to your pores.
