1
Select a time for the party. The pool party may be best during the morning or afternoon in the hot summer months, or in the afternoon or early evening when the weather begins to cool.
-
2
Clean the pool if you are hosting it at home. If you plan to host the event at another location, call and set up reservations. Show up early to ensure that the pool is clean.

3
Decorate for the pool party the night before if the weather cooperates. Having everything in place before the party will give you time to set up other details like the food and entertainment for the children. Hang streamers, place centerpieces on the tables and tie balloons around the pool.
-
4
Provide entertainment for the kids in the pool. Add pool toys and rafts so the kids can stay occupied. Have flotation devices for kids who cannot swim so they can have fun in the pool as well.
-
5
Provide waterproof sunscreen and towels. This ensures that they stay protected in the sun and do not soak cars or homes with water.
-
6
Set up foods that are easy to eat. Children will want to spend the majority of their time in the pool, so it may be best to have light finger foods available. Provide cheese and meat trays, fruit, chips and other foods in a buffet style for the children to enjoy.
-
7
Set up an area for beverages. Provide plenty of water so the children remain hydrated while in the sun. Provide other options like juice and soda as well, so they have a selection.
-
8
Have a lifeguard on duty at all times. Someone needs to monitor the children in the pool to ensure that they are safe.
