How to Find a Christian Job
Job hunting in today's economy is difficult enough, but searching out a Christian job presents its own unique set of challenges. And while help locating these jobs does exist, finding the right Christian job for you requires patience and persistence, as well as knowing exactly where and how to look. Christian employers---and especially churches---have questions and expectations that differ from the general job market, and preparing yourself for these unique circumstances will be critical to your success.

1
Add your Christian-related activities and interests to your resume and cover letter. Add skills or experiences to your resume that reflect your Christian background or which relate to a specific Christian job. Note in your cover letter your Christian activities as well as your desire to work in a Christian environment or do Christian service.
-
2
Visit Christian job websites such as Christian Jobs, Christian Career Center or Christianet to search for and apply for a wide variety of Christian jobs across multiple job fields (see Resources).
-
-
3
Post your resume on Christian as well as secular job websites with a title that tells potential employers that you're searching for a Christian job. For example, your listing title might be "Christian Job Seeker" or "Seeking Christian Employment".
-
4
Network with Christian workers that you know, whether they work in an explicitly Christian job setting or not. Let them know about the type of Christian job you're seeking, and ask them to notify you if they learn of any jobs that might fit your needs. Workers doing jobs similar to the one that you want will probably be those most valuable to talk to.
-
5
Contact the denominational headquarters of your church and any similar church denominations and ask them if they maintain a list of current job openings within the denomination. You may also provide a copy of your resume to the denominational headquarters to be forwarded to any suitable positions.
-
6
Call or visit any Christian colleges or seminaries in your area; many Christian secondary schools maintain Christian job boards or listings for students and graduates who want to find a Christian job.
