Check that the "Media Type" setting is appropriate for the type of media on which you are printing. In the print window, click "Properties" or "Preferences." Beside "Media Type," select the option that best describes the type of paper or other media you are printing on.

Turn off color management in the printer driver if you are using the color management feature in third-party picture editing software, such as Photoshop. Choose "Printer Color Management" from the drop-down menu on the page that appears when you click "Print" from within your application. Click to select "Off (No Color Adjustment)."

Adjust the "Color Density" setting in your "Paper Configuration Utility." Select "Paper Configuration" from the drop-down menu on the main print page. Move the slider beside "Color Density" to adjust the density to your liking.

Place your media with the printable side face-down in the paper tray of the printer. Printing on the wrong side of many types of media will result in lower-quality prints.

Check the expiration date on your ink cartridge. If it has expired, replace it. Also check the ink indicators to make sure the ink level isn't too low.

Run a cleaning cycle on your printer. Press "Menu" on your printer's control panel, then click the down arrow until "Maintenance" appears. Click "Menu" again, then use the down arrow to select "Pwr Cleaning," then press "Menu" twice to begin the cleaning process.
