A flashing picture is a common problem experienced by many different types of TVs. The problem can have several causes, either on the TV itself or on a component device that is connected to the TV. Before contacting a technical support representative at LG, however, it is well worth your while to try some troubleshooting steps on your own. Many times these can resolve the issue for you. If you use an LG plasma TV and are experiencing a flashing picture, address the problem using a basic diagnostic procedure.

Reset the TV by unplugging its power cord for a full 30 seconds, and then plugging it back in. Allow the LG an additional 30 seconds to fully reboot, and then power it back on. Watch the TV for an extended period of time to check whether the picture is still flashing.

Locate the audio/video connection cable or cables that attach the device you are watching to the TV and see whether they have come loose at all. Replug them if they have. A connection that has come even slightly loose is one of the most common causes of a flashing or intermittent picture.

Scan the LG's other video inputs to determine the scope of the problem. If, for example, you see only a picture flashing when the TV is tuned to the input that connects your digital cable box to your TV, it is much more likely that the cable box is causing the problem than the LG TV. On the other hand, if flashing occurs on all the LG's video inputs, the TV will more than likely need to be serviced by a professional.
