Your McAfee account contains your personal information along with information about your subscription, which allows you to keep your software up to date by providing continuous virus definition updates. In order to delete your McAfee account you must talk to a customer support representative, and remove the software from your computer. Removal of Internet security software should only occur if you are replacing the software with a different brand, as your computer will be vulnerable to spyware, viruses and other malicious software without Internet protection.
Step 1
Call customer support. You must call McAfee customer support and unsubscribe, which cancels your account. Be sure to have your state ID or driver's license available, as you will be asked questions to verify your identity.

Uninstall McAfee. For PCs using operating systems earlier than Windows Vista, click the "Start" button and the "Control Panel" button. Click "Add/Remove Programs," and select "McAfee Security Center." Click the "Change/Remove" button and follow the onscreen instructions.

For PCs using Windows Vista, click "Start" and "Search." Type "Programs and Features," and click the "Go" button. Double-click "Programs and Features," followed by clicking "McAfee Security Center." Click the "Uninstall" button and follow the onscreen instructions.

For Macs, click the "Go" button at the top of your screen, followed by clicking "Applications" from the drop-down menu. Click and hold your mouse over the "McAfee" icon to highlight it, and drag the icon to the "Trash" icon to uninstall the program. Click the "Trash" icon, followed by clicking "Finder" at the top of the screen and click "Empty Trash" from the drop-down menu.
Step 5
Use McAfee Consumer Products Removal Tool. Download the program at http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe. Save the file to your computer and run it once download completes. Close out of all McAfee programs, and double-click the file to run. Follow the onscreen instructions to completely uninstall all McAfee programs.

Restart your computer.
