How to Tell if a Versace Handbag Is Real or Fake

Versace is a high-end Italian fashion label that has produced highly coveted products for more than 30 years. Its prices are often out of price range for many consumers. As any brand that has such a high popularity, counterfeit products are often manufactured and sold to unsuspecting consumers. If purchasing a Versace handbag from anywhere other than an official Versace retailer, it is important to assure that what you are purchasing is indeed authentic. By understanding what to look for, you can prevent yourself from being duped and wasting your money.

Instructions

1. Check the certificate of authenticity. This is a small white piece of paper with black text located inside the handbag's tag.

2. Inspect the tags on the bag. Official tags with an embossed texture logo are laced with a black string to all authentic Versace handbags. These tags are made of ultra-fine black and gold cardboard that is square or rectangular in shape.

3. Look for the word "Versace" printed into the metal near the snaps, buttons and accents. This metal stamp should should be tightly secured onto the handbag.

4. Inspect the stitching of the Versace label on the lining of the handbag. Loose stitching can indicate a counterfeit handbag.

5. Check for authentic packaging and stickers. An authentic Versace bag will have packaging with two separate stickers -- one written in Italian writing stating that it was shipped from Italy, and a second sticker in English from a U.S. retailer.

6. Compare the price of the bag with the price of the same Versace bag from a retail store. If the price of the bag that you wish to purchase is unusually low, it is probably too good to be true.
