How to Freeze a Bottle of Water

Freeze bottled water overnight to have fresh cold water throughout the next day.

Drinking water throughout the day keeps you from becoming dehydrated. Freeze your bottled water to make ice cold water accessible as you travel throughout your day. A cold bottle of water can save you from having to spend money on a drink while you are out and about, and it can also cut down on the cost of having to purchase a bottle of water when you are running errands.

Instructions

1. Clean your bottle before using it. Run hot water over it and use dish soap to make sure it is clean. Rinse off all the soap after you have washed the bottle.

2. Fill the water bottle to between 1/2 to 3/4 full with water. Do not fill the water bottle all the way, or the water will expand.

3. Place the bottle of water in the freezer and let it freeze completely. Freezing your plastic bottles of water is safe and does not leach chemicals from the plastic, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
