How to Remove the Back of a General Electric Washer
Repairs that are made on a GE washer often require that the back panel be removed. Removing the back panel of the washer requires having enough space to work. The only tools that the job requires are a screwdriver or nut driver and a pair of slip joint pliers. As with any electrical appliance, it should be unplugged to ensure a safe work environment. Pull the washer away from the wall slightly to access the connections in the back.

Unplug the washer's power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove the water hoses with a pair of slip joint pliers. There is one hose for hot water and one for cold.

Remove the drain hose from the stationary tub.

Pull the washer out far enough to be able to get behind it and work comfortably.

Unscrew the screws at the corner and along the sides of the back panel using a screwdriver or nut driver. Slide the panel up and away from the washer.
