Your bathroom gets dirty just like any other room in the home, and cleaning it is often dreaded. However, when you begin noticing a brown discoloration on the ground around the base of your toilet, it's time to tackle the job. Dirty, discolored grout is unsightly and the stains will only get worse if left untreated. Clean the dirty grout with the right products and it will once again look good.
Step 1
Sweep the area with a broom or vacuum cleaner to remove loose dirt and debris.

Pour 3 1/2 cups warm water into a clean, empty spray bottle. Add 1/4 cup baking soda and 2 tablespoons each of white vinegar and ammonia. Put the lid on and shake up the bottle well.
Step 3
Spray the stained grout generously with the cleaning solution. Let it sit for a few minutes before scrubbing the grout with a rag.
Step 4
Make a baking soda and peroxide paste into a bowl if the brown stains are still there. Use three parts baking soda to one part peroxide. Scrub the paste onto the grout with an old toothbrush. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then scrub again until the stains are gone. Rinse well with a rag and clean water.
