Many automotive GPS devices offer the ability to store and play audio-book and music files. If your GPS includes an FM transmitter or modulator, you can create a wireless connection between the GPS and your auto stereo. If your GPS does not include an FM transmitter or modulator, you can create a wired connection between the two devices with a standard audio cable.

FM Transmitter (Garmin GPS)

Step 1

Select “Volume,” “Audio Output,” then “FM Transmitter” to display the “Frequency Adjust” screen.

Step 2

Select an unused (no broadcast) FM station on your car radio.

Step 3

Press the "+" or "-" buttons on your GPS to select the same station.

FM Modulator (Magellan GPS)

Step 1

Select “Main Menu,” “Settings,” “Sound,” “FM Modulator.”

Step 2

At the warning alert, press "Yes."

Step 3

Select “Modulator Settings.”

Step 4

Select an unused (no broadcast) FM station on your car radio.

Step 5

Press the “Tune” up and down arrows to select the same station.

Audio Cable (Garmin or Magellan GPS)

Step 1

Plug one end of a male-to-male 1/4-inch jack audio cable into the audio output port of the GPS device.

Step 2

Locate the "Aux-in" (auxiliary input) port on your car stereo. Most car stereo "Aux-in" ports are located on the stereo faceplate.

Step 3

Plug the other end of the 1/4-inch jack cable into the "Aux-in" port of your car stereo.

Step 4

Select the "Aux-in" mode on your car stereo.
