How to Decrease Hardware Acceleration for Your Video Adapter
Video cards specialize in processing graphics, relieving the computer's Central Processing Unit (CPU) of having to do the work. "Hardware acceleration" refers to performing functions and tasks using hardware instead of within software. This distribution of workload (to specialized hardware) makes the difference in performance very evident. However, should you be experiencing problems related to your video card, decreasing the level of hardware acceleration will help determine the cause of the problem.
