You can convert English text into Chinese characters at the press of a button.

Whether you're using it to write a letter, translate a document or simply look up phrases in another language, translation programs such as MultiTranse 6.3 offer a user-friendly solution for converting blocks of text from English to Chinese, or vice versa. There are several other languages to choose from, from Arabic to Norwegian.

Instructions

    • 1

Install a BitStream Unicode font for Chinese hieroglyph characters onto your computer by going to the TialSoft download page. A download box for BitStream should appear automatically.

    • 2

Click "Save File." Open the file, click "Run," select English in the dropdown menu and finish setup.

    • 3

Download MultiTranse 6.3 from the same webpage. A download box for MultiTranse 6.3 should appear automatically. If it doesn't, click on the "Download Now" link in the MultiTranse 6.3 box at the top of the page.

    • 4

Click "Save File." Open the file, click "Run," select English in the dropdown menu and finish setup.

    • 5

Run MultiTranse 6.3 on your computer. A window will appear that has two text fields, one for input and one for output, bordered on top by a line of country flags.

    • 6

Select English as the input language, on the dropdown menu on the top left corner, and Chinese as the output language on the dropdown menu to the right. Or click the flag from each respective language.

    • 7

Copy and paste the English text from your Word Document into the input box. If your document is over a page long, you may have to copy and paste in sections of about 500 words at a time.

    • 8

Click the blue arrow to the right of the dropdown menus to translate the text. Chinese characters should appear in the output box at the bottom in a few seconds. Copy-paste the Chinese characters into a new word document. Repeat until entire document is translated.

Tips & Warnings

  • No translation program is perfect, so if you're able, double-check that your translated text is readable and logical or run it by a friend who reads Chinese, especially if your document is meant to be read for professional purposes.
