How to Use a Citrus Peeler
A citrus peeler is a thin device with a hook at one end and a thin, curved part at the other end. At first glance, it might look more like a crafting or dental tool than an addition to your culinary collection. This odd-looking device can save you lots of trouble if you are a fan of cooking with citrus. Once you have one you will never again need to gouge your fingers into the ends of a lemon or pick bits of orange rind out from under your fingernails. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Insert the hook of the citrus peeler into the top of the piece of citrus fruit. Hold the peeler firmly against the piece of fruit while dragging it around to the base of the fruit and then back up to the top on the other side. Your piece of citrus fruit should now have a vertical line from the top all the way around the bottom and back up.
-
2
Rotate the fruit 90 degrees and repeat the process described in Step 1. Your piece of citrus fruit should now have two vertical lines from the top all the way around the bottom and back up. In other words, the peel should be sliced into lengthwise quarters.

3
Slide the curved end of the citrus peeler under the tip of one of the quarters of the peel. Slide the peeler under the peel from the top of the fruit to the bottom, allowing the curve of the peeler to follow the natural curve of the fruit. This will remove one of the quarters of peel. Repeat this process for the other three quarters of the peel.
