How to Become a Disney Face Character

A Disney "Face Character" is the type of character that does not wear a full-body costume. Face characters include Snow White, Cinderella and Prince Charming. A face character will generally interact with Disney guests through gestures and other movements. To secure a job as a Disney face character, you must undergo a preparation and audition process.

Instructions

    • 1

Access the Disney audition website (see resources) for a current list of audition times and locations.

    • 2

Choose the "Character Performer" option in the "I'd Like To See" menu on the left side of the screen.

    • 3

Choose the Disney Park that you wish to audition for in the "Auditions For" menu, or choose the default "All Parks" option.

    • 4

Click on the audition options, which will be listed by titles such as "Disney Costumed Character and Look-alike Performers." This action will allow you to see details about individual auditions.

    • 5

Make note of audition time and location. Make note of any special audition requirements. In most cases, Disney requires potential cast members to be at least 18 years of age and to bring a current resume and headshot photo.

    • 6

Warm up by doing stretching exercises prior to the audition. Disney asks that performers "Be warmed up and ready to begin at the time listed. All performers will learn a simple movement and animation exercise."

    • 7

Check in at the audition at the appointed time. Follow all directives given by the casting directors to have the best chance of becoming a Disney face character.

Tips & Warnings

  • Disney does not have specific requirements regarding audition preparation for character roles. Disney reminds potential cast members that "Most roles in this category will require you to portray one of our world-famous Disney Characters with no words at all," so you will be evaluated primarily on appearance, attitude, movements and coordination.
