How To Get an Online Notary License in Florida

Florida is one of only three states that allow notaries to perform marriage ceremonies. In the state of Florida, there are several routes to gain notary certification and some of these are completely online programs. There are a few steps to take before you can get your Florida Notary Commission Certificate.

      Complete a three-hour notary education course given by a state-approved provider. There are 18 authorized providers of courses, including the Florida Department of State's online program. A link to the approved providers can be found in the resources section of this article.

      Obtain an application from a bonding company authorized by the state of Florida to submit electronic notary applications to the state. The link to the list of more than 20 approved companies is provided in the resources section of this article. Many providers allow you to complete the entire process online.

      Fill out the application and pay the applicable fees. The notary certification is usually issued within a few days, according to the Department of State website. As of October 2010, the fees are $39 from the state. Additional fees the companies charge for the bond premium and notary seal vary.
