How to Make My Web Screen Smaller (3 Steps)

By Jacqui Lane

A slip of the mouse can render your Web browser window larger than usual or make all the text and images in your browser an uncomfortably large size. If you've accidentally zoomed in on your browser or gone into full-screen mode you can return it to normal in just a few quick clicks.

Step 1

Manually resize your browser window. Press the "Restore Down" icon in the upper right corner of the browser window; it's between the minimize and exit buttons. Position your mouse cursor over one corner of the browser window; when the icon changes to a double-sided arrow hold the left mouse key and drag the window down to make it smaller or up to make it larger.

Step 2

Press "F11" to exit full-screen mode. This returns your browser to its normal viewing state with the address and menu bar at the top of the screen.

Step 3

Zoom out to make the text and images in your Web browser appear smaller. Hold "CTRL" and press the minus key until the content on your screen appears at a more manageable size.
