Homemade Snack Ideas for Kids' Home Lunches
Feeding your children a healthy balanced meal is vital for their growth and development. Giving them healthy nutritious snacks are just as important. Instead of opting for the not-as-nutritious snacks that can be easily thrown together with their lunch, take the time and make home lunches an artistic eating project. Get them involved with making it.
Things You'll Need
- Apples
- Knife
- Almonds
- Orange juice
- Baby carrots
- Hummus
- 3-oz. cup
- Toothpick
- Sprigs of parsley

Apple Bites

Apples are a nutrious snack Wash apples under warm running water, gently rubbing them. Dry them off using a paper towel. One apple will create four apple bites so keep that in mind when you're creating these snacks for your children. Cut the apple into quarters.

Core the apples to remove any seeds and the stem. Take a knife and cut a wedge out of the skin side of the apple. This should create an opening inside the apple.

Take a few silvered almonds and stick them in the lower and upper part of the apple in a straight line creating the illusion of two separate rows of teeth. To keep the apples from browning, baste them with orange juice if you are not going to serve them right away.
Carrot Patches

Baby carrots are needed for carrots patches Wash your produce by rubbing it gently under warm water. Dry them off using a paper towel.

Spoon 3 tbsp. of hummus into a 3-oz. plastic cup. Take a tooth pick and stick small holes into the top of each baby carrot.

Stick a sprig of parsley into each hole you created with the tooth pick. Insert four baby carrots into each cup of hummus and serve it immediately.
