How to Replace a Mantle on a Coleman Northstar Gas Lantern
Camping is often associated with the Coleman name by those who rely on the company's stoves and lanterns. Coleman's Northstar gas lantern uses mantles that clip onto the lantern instead of the traditional tie-on type. Does this Spark an idea?

Place the lantern on a sturdy surface at a comfortable working height. Locate the knob on top of the lantern cap.

Turn the knob to the left to loosen and remove. Pull the vent cap up and off of the threaded rod. Pull the glass globe straight up so that mantles can be more easily accessed.

Remove the old or worn mantles from the lantern and discard. Select proper replacement clip-on mantles for the Northstar lantern.

Clip the new Coleman mantles onto the Northstar lantern so they are secure.

Light the mantles with a match to prepare for lighting the lantern. Allow the mantles to completely burn and turn to a chemical ash. The chemical ash produces a bright white light when heated by the burning Coleman fuel.
