Instructions

    • 1

Lay out the nonstick paper and put the fondant on it. Use the color of fondant that you want your tulips to be. Pink, yellow, and purple are typical tulip colors. Fondant comes both colored and white so if you do not see the color you want, combine it with icing color, also found in the cake decorating section. Roll the fondant into a ball, and using a toothpick add stripes of color to it. Knead the fondant until it is evenly the color that you want. Add more color with the toothpick if needed.

    • 2

Roll the fondant out so that it is two to three millimeters thick, a little thicker than a real tulip petal.

    • 3

Cut petal shapes out of the fondant using the petal cutouts. Get cutouts that are no more than an inch tall. You will need about three petals per flower.

    • 4

Wrap one petal tightly around the lollipop stick. The bottom of the petal is around the stick. Lightly flare the top of the flower so it looks like a tulip flower.

    • 5

Wrap another petal around the outside of the petal, flaring the top out.

    • 6

Wrap the next, opposite side that you wrapped the first one on. Then lightly flare out the top.

    • 7

Let the fondant dry completely before putting it on the cake. Cut the stem to the length you need for your project.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep a picture of a tulip nearby to help aid you in deciding how to flare out the flower petals.
