Crossword puzzles have been around for many years. They are a fun pastime and a great addition to any party. Many party hosts construct personalized crossword puzzles as a form of entertainment for bridal and baby showers. Teachers can use crossword puzzles as engaging and educational teaching aids. Children can learn the word definitions and vocabulary while having fun. Internet users can take advantage of the many crossword puzzle-making sites that allow people to create and print their own puzzles for free.

Instructions

1. Gather a list of words pertaining to your subject. If you are creating a crossword puzzle for entertainment at a certain occasion, develop a list of questions and answers about a specific person, holiday or event. If you are creating a list of vocabulary words for a class, gather the words and definitions the students are studying.

2. Open your web browser and search for one of the many free crossword puzzle creation sites.

3. Enter any required information to create your puzzle. Some websites request the amount of squares you would like to be included in your crossword puzzle. Determine the amount of squares across and down. Enter these numbers into the correct fields.

4. Enter your list of words and hints.

5. Click "Create My Puzzle" or "Create My Crossword Puzzle." The program you have chosen will create your crossword puzzle.

6. View your results and make any edits to your lists and hints by clicking the "Back" button.

7. Click "File" and then "Print" when you are satisfied with the puzzle.
