Instructions

    • 1

Measure the width of the door opening to determine what size storm door will be needed. Measure both the width and height of the opening. A common size for a front door is 36 inches by 80 inches. Pella storm doors are adjustable, so measurements close to these will suffice.

    • 2

Screw the Z-bar across the brick mold along the exterior of the door. Put a screw on each side of the Z-bar in the provided holes. Attach the hinge to the desired side of the door. Pella storm doors, like most others, are reversible and the hinges can be installed to either side. Screw the hinge bar down in place with the screws in the provided holes.

    • 3

Measure from the top of the Z-bar down to the bottom of the sill and write down the measurement. Then measure from the top down the hinge and make a mark on the hinge bar at the measurement. Cut off the excess part of the hinge bar with a hacksaw so the door will fit into the opening.

    • 4

Set the door in the opening and place a level on the hinge side to verify the door is level. Adjust up or down if necessary. Screw the door to the brick mold in the holes provided in the hinge bar. Open the door and install the screws on the inside frame. Add a few more screws to the top Z-bar so it is securely in place.

    • 5

Measure from the top of the Z-bar to the bottom of the door on the opposite side from the hinges and cut the other Z-bar to size. Screw the Z-bar to the brick mold using the supplied screws.

    • 6

Open the door and slide the door sweep over the bottom of the door. Cut off any excess with scissors. Screw the sweep into the bottom of the door. Install the door closer in to the top of the door with the provided screws. Install the hardware set into the provided holes. Screw the exterior side of the hardware to the interior. This will vary slightly depending on the type of Pella door.

    • 7

Open and close the Pella door to verify everything is in working order. Check to see that everything is plumb and square and the door is perfectly level.
