How to Make a Craft Spider Monkey

How to Make a Craft Spider Monkey thumbnail
Spider monkeys look whimsical and silly.

Spider monkeys appear childlike and whimsical, and seem like they would make playful pets. However, because spider monkeys are wild animals, it is a better idea to make a spider monkey craft that will be safer to play with than the actual creature. Many crafts are available that you can make to capture the spirit of a spider monkey, including those made with basic craft materials, such as paper plates. Once the craft is completed, you can play with it or hang it on your wall.

Instructions

    • 1

Paint a paper plate with brown acrylic paint and a paper bowl with black acrylic paint . Allow the paint to dry.

    • 2

Staple the bowl onto the edge of the plate. The bowl will be the spider monkey's head and the plate will be the body.

    • 3

Cut out one 3-inch and two 2-inch circles from black construction paper.

    • 4

Glue the 3-inch circle to the middle of the bowl. This will be the spider monkey's mouth.

    • 5

Glue the 2-inch circles onto the top edge of the bowl opposite from the plate. Space the circles 2-inches apart. These will be the spider monkey's ears.

    • 6

Cut out two legs and a curved tail from black construction paper. Make each appendage 4-inches long.

    • 7

Glue the legs onto the edge of the plate opposite from the bowl, spacing them 2-inches apart.

    • 8

Glue the tail onto the back of the plate.

    • 9

Glue two googly eyes onto the bowl, placing them above the mouth circle.

    • 10

Draw detailing, such as a smile, nails or nose holes, onto the spider monkey using markers.
