How to Jump an XR400

When a motorcycle battery dies, the process of jump-starting the battery is the mostly same as jump-starting a car battery. You can jump the XR400 from another motorcycle or from a car. It's important to note that if you jump the XR400 with a car battery, you should not start the car to charge the battery, as the power will be too much for the motorcycle. Enough current will flow to the XR400 by simply placing jumper cables on the car battery.

Instructions

    • 1

Clip one positive jumper cable to the positive post of your XR400's battery. Place the other end of the positive jumper cable on the positive post of the charging vehicle's battery.

    • 2

Clip one negative jumper cable to the negative post of your XR400's battery. Attach the other end of the negative jumper cable to a piece of metal on your XR400's frame to ground the circuit.

    • 3

Start the charging vehicle if it is a motorcycle. Continue running the charging vehicle for a few minutes so your XR400's battery will charge. If the charging vehicle is a car, do not start the car. Enough current will flow between the batteries to sufficiently charge the XR400's battery.

    • 4

Remove all cables in reverse order.

    • 5

Start your XR400. If it doesn't start, repeat the steps.
